The UN's World Food Program has a game site. It's called Free Rice, and when a player guesses the meaning of a word correctly, 20 grains of rice go to the hungry. Players play free, while sponsors donate. The grains soon become bags as the vocabulary ratchets up from words like "frisky" to words like "viviparous".
The address is http://www.freerice.com/.
UPDATE, Sept. 13th:
There are now a slew of subjects on Free Rice, including Italian, Mathematics and Famous Paintings. You learn, you have fun, the hungry eat, everyone feels good and knowledge increases.
